Important Update July 2024: We have received occasional reports when adding or updating a profile picture, the image appears incorrectly. If you experience this issue, please submit your profile pic to Support, preferably with a screen shot showing what happened. We are able to update a different way, and further escalate the problem to Microsoft.
To update your profile picture in Microsoft 365, you can follow these steps:
- Find a photo you want to use and store it on your computer, OneDrive, or other location you can get to. The photo needs to be smaller than 4 MB and can be a .png, jpg, or .gif file 1.
- Sign in to Microsoft 365 with your work or school account at Microsoft365.com.
- Select the circle in the upper right-hand corner of the page that shows your initials or an icon of a person, this will bring up a drop-down screen
- Mouse-over the icon with the initials or the larger circle with your initials on it.
- Click on it to upload or change the photo:
If you’re a Microsoft 365 admin, you can use the Microsoft 365 admin center or Microsoft Graph PowerShell to add photos on behalf of users 12. For more information on updating your profile in Microsoft 365, please refer to this link: Update your profile - Microsoft Support.
