How do I make sure people see my Teams Posts?

When using teams, it's helpful to use the mention feature (using the @ symbol) if you want to make sure to get people's attention on an announcement.

Note that there are two places in teams you can use the @ symbol to mention people.

  • Type the @ sign followed by some characters, a list of names or options should appear from which you can chose the name, channel, or team you wish to notify.
    • On a Channel Conversation - This is in the "Teams" Section, and every team has a 'General Channel' to start, but can have more than one channel
    • on a Chat - which can be with one or more people you add to a chat.

How to use a “Mention”

  • When you use a Mention, it will highlight a channel or a chat, and notify people
    • (unless they've turned off notifications on a channel, or if they have Do Not Disturb or Focus turned on).
  • When mentioning people, some may also receive an email notification if they are only logged into the mobile app.
    • In this case I could also use @General (or another channel name) to notify everyone on the channel (which will be everyone that is also on the team).
    • When you type the @ sign, a list of names of people on the team will appear
    • When using the Chat capability, where you have a number of people on a Chat thread, you can use @Everyone to notify everyone in the chat (which is different from people in a Channel).

-  In online communications that lack in tone or visual queuesemoji's can help let people know you've seen a post, and/or express a tone or an emotional feeling or reaction.
